🌙 Light Pollution: Protecting Our Dark Skies
One of the special things about life at the lake is the peacefulness of the night sky — the stars, the moonlight, and the quiet calm that comes after sunset. While the Summer Village of Larkspur doesn’t have many street lights, we all play a part in keeping our nights dark and natural.
A few things to keep in mind:
-
Be mindful of where your outdoor lights are pointing — try to aim lights downward, not outward or into a neighbor’s yard or window.
-
Use motion-sensor lights only when needed, and make sure they don’t stay on longer than necessary or shine across property lines.
-
Consider softer, warmer lighting for outdoor use instead of bright white or blue-toned bulbs.
-
Turn off unnecessary lights overnight to reduce glare and protect our natural nighttime environment.
By being thoughtful about outdoor lighting, we help preserve the peaceful lake atmosphere, support local wildlife, and make it easier for everyone to enjoy the stars.
Let’s keep our skies dark and our community bright — in all the right ways.
