A Message From Ken Schauenberg

I want to take a bit of your time to say Thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve as a councillor for our little gem of a Village – Larkspur.

I have tried my best to serve the needs of this community for the last 10 years and have found it extremely rewarding. I have to admit there are always challenges to overcome but the experience is invaluable.

I will not be running in the upcoming election which leaves some room for one of you to offer some fresh ideas. You would be working with a very talented and hard-working  Administration, Marion and Garth Bancroft. They do the majority of all the hard work and are very good at it with all their experience. Along with you on this journey would be two other dedicated councillors.

Being a councillor will take up some of your time, although not as much as you might think. We have meetings, usually once a month, from April to October/November depending on what circumstance has to be dealt with. There is some reading to prepare for your meetings but the majority of work is done by your Administration. We have worked around summer and extended winter holidays by using technology… mostly e-mails… to communicate with each other. It has worked well in the past to keep in touch.

This minimally paid position is rewarding, as it gives you a say on how you can make a difference for ‘your’ community. You will need to put the good of the community ahead of individual goals to make this position work. You will never be bored learning everyday on how Larkspur runs as a municipality.

In closing… THANK YOU… for giving me this experience.

Ken

We are always being challenged by higher levels of government
